Cover the Uninsured Week March 10-16, 2003.

Save the PatientSM booth will be open Wednesday, March 12th, from noon to 7:00 P.M.

CHICAGO - Save the PatientSM is partnering with more than 85 organizations to support events in neighborhoods throughout Chicago during National Cover the Uninsured Week, March 10-16. All are part of a nationwide effort to call public attention to the plight of 41 million Americans who have no health insurance, including 1.7 million in Illinois.

Carol Marin, the respected former Chicago news anchor and CBS news correspondent, will help kick off the week by moderating a Town Hall Meeting at noon, Monday, March 10th at Harold Washington Library, Chicago. Elected officials and business, labor, health care and community leaders will hear from one another and from individuals who have suffered the financial and health hazards of living without health insurance.

On Wednesday, March 12, at eight locations throughout Chicagoland, health fairs will offer free services to the uninsured. The largest will be at Truman College, noon – 7 p.m., 1145 W. Wilson, Chicago. Other events during the week include a University of Illinois at Chicago campus panel discussion on March 11, business-labor media events on March 13, and an inter-faith meeting of leaders from numerous faiths, business, labor, health care and community groups.
