Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of patients and their families around the world. We are pleased to report that SAVE THE PATIENT has exceeded expectations this year, and we would like to share some of our proudest moments:
Al told us if it weren't for what he learned from SAVE THE PATIENT he would have lost his parents to medical error when they were hospitalized.
Joy told us that she and her family saved $10,000 on her Mom's wound procedure because of our advice about a coding system error made by Medicare.
An unidentified woman who watched our monthly TV show obtained free health services for her three children as a result of contacting the resources mentioned on the program. We always share information on free health related services on our TV show.
As a result of our TV show, two major urban hospitals will obtain the patient safety educational film, “Faces of Medical Error: From Tears to Transparency...The Story of Lewis Blackman," clips of which were aired on our November 2009 show. The film will be used to teach their providers how to avoid medical error, and how best to handle error when it occurs. We know lives will be saved as a result.
Save the Patient was chosen to represent patient interests at the World Health Conference, where we participated in media interviews, our articles were read by local and global audiences, and we were asked to speak on behalf of patients on Capital Hill regarding the national health reform legislation.
